Gin Making Using the Vodka Method - The process of making gin using the vodka method is a modern and efficient way of producing gin, particularly in commercial settings. While traditional gin-making involves distilling a neutral spirit along with botanicals, the vodka method simplifies the process by using pre-distilled vodka as the base spirit, then infusing it with botanicals.

Craft Your Own Island Spirit: Pandan Coconut Gin

The Process

(1) Grind all the dry botanicals with a mortar and pestal until fine, transfer to a muslin bag and add the Pandan powder.

(2) Put the vodka, orange peel and coconut cubes into a covered glass bowl or stainless steel saucepan/pasta pot then add the muslin bag of dry botanicals, it is possible simply add all the botanicals without using the muslin bag but filtering is more difficult.

(3) Leave at room temperature for 2 weeks , stirring thoroughly every morning and evening.

(4) Final step is to strain the Pandan and Coconut gin through a fine muslin or clean calf length stocking into your bottles and label your gin.

Note: if you have not used a muslin bag it is preferable to strain through a fine kitchen sieve first.

Final Product - The result of the vodka method is a gin that’s generally lighter, with a more pronounced botanical flavor depending on the infusion process. While some purists may prefer the traditional method for its complexity, the vodka method produces a more consistent and quicker gin, ideal for those looking for simplicity and versatility. Perfect with PANDAN Powder.

Conclusion: Your Signature Sip Awaits

And there you have it—the vibrant, aromatic journey of making your own Pandan Gin. What starts as a simple infusion transforms into a bottle of liquid Southeast Asia, capturing the warm, comforting essence of Pandan in every drop.

This isn't just a gin; it's a conversation starter, the secret ingredient in your next cocktail, and a testament to the magic of homemade infusions. Whether you're stirring it into a grassy, complex Gin & Tonic, crafting a Pandan-infused Singapore Sling, or simply enjoying it over ice, you’re sipping on something uniquely yours.

The beauty of this recipe is its adaptability. Found some fresh kaffir lime leaves? Add a couple. Want a deeper, spiced note? A single crushed cardamom pod can work wonders.
